by damuzingo

Racing For Kids, the longest continuous children’s charity in motorsports, congratulates the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach for its 50th Anniversary of bringing big time auto racing to Southern California.

For 26 years (1991-2016), Racing For Kids was the beneficiary of the Grand Prix’s Toyota Pro Celebrity Race bringing a variety of celebrity racers to the bedsides of hospitalized children and participating in race week fundraisers. In addition, each year hospital outpatient kids were invited to the Long Beach Grand Prix for a special VIP trackside racing experience.

Through the efforts of Toyota Motor Sales USA and The Grand Prix Foundation, Racing For Kids donated $2.4 million to Southern California children’s hospitals, most notability Long Beach’s Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital.

Attending this year’s 50th anniversary race weekend is prominent Canadian businessman and Racing For Kids sponsor, Doug Fregin, who was a frequent entrant in the Pro Celebrity Race.

Also in attendance will be Dr. Bill Pinsky, Racing For Kids founder, who competed in the 2014 Pro Celebrity Race. Said Dr. Pinsky: “It was a lifelong dream of mine to drive in such a race. I will never forget the experience.”

In its 36th year, Racing For Kids programs have touched the lives of 45,000 youngsters in the United States, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Japan and Mexico. With its mission to use motorsports to bring public attention and funding to the healthcare needs of children, Racing For Kids has raised more than $8 Million for the hospitals visited and other child healthcare organizations.
