Infant Miles Leitch, six weeks old, became the youngest child to ever attend a Racing For Kids® “Kids at the Track” event in the popular IndyCar charity’s 34 year history. Miles was a part of the Sheboygan Falls (WI) Boy & Girls Club group at Road America Race Friday, June 16, hosted by Racing For Kids in partnership with the track management.
The group of 24, kids, siblings with a few parents, enjoyed a day of IndyCar racing; pit and paddock tours and trackside hospitality at the world renowned race track. Accompanying baby Miles were his brother, Presley, age 10; mother, Maya, age 32; and Grandpa, Carlton Leitch, age 60.
Racing For Kids weekend began Thursday Night with the annual Elkhart Lake Welcome Party at the famous Siebken’s Resort. The event also doubles as a Racing For Kids Fundraiser organized by racing marketing specialist Laura Cooper-Arnold.
The fundraiser featured local business, personality and racing sponsors; a racing memorabilia auction; and a celebrity bartender competition. The bartender competition not only was riotous but also highly successful in raising funds for Racing For Kids. By evening’s end, more than $10,000 was raised for the racing charity’s program of IndyCar driver visits to hospitalized children and hospital playroom development.
