IMSA and World Challenge veteran will drive Subaru BRZ after third-place finish in 2024 standings

Veteran sports car racer and driving instructor Peter Hanson will return to the Sports Car Championship Canada in 2025, driving the #12 Sanders Motorsport Subaru BRZ TCA.
This makes Hanson the third TCA driver confirmed for this season. He’ll join MD Autosport’s previously announced drivers, Valerie Limoges and Megan Leahy, who will each drive their own Hyundai Veloster Turbo TCAs.
A native of Burlington, Ontario, Hanson has more than three decades of experience in motorsport and the greater automotive industry. As a driver, Hanson was a winner at the 1992 SCCA World Challenge 24 Hours of Mosport, giving the fourth-generation Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 its first victory in worldwide competition.
He has also raced in the 1994 Twelve Hours of Sebring – driving an Oldsmobile Cutlass GTS – and the 2000 Rolex 24 At Daytona, where he shared Yellow Magic’s Ferrari F355 with 1992 Daytona 24H overall winners Toshio Suzuki and Anders Olofsson. Hanson became a driving coach at Ferrari North America, and then established the Hanson International Advanced Driving School in 2006.
More recently, Hanson has raced in the Canadian Touring Car Championship, the Nissan Micra Cup – and in 2023, he made his Radical Cup Canada debut for RySpec Racing. Hanson moved across the FEL Motorsports paddock to SCCC in 2024, and finished on the TCA podium in all ten races last year – good enough for third in the series championship standings behind champion Eric Kunz (who has graduated to SRO TC America in 2025) and vice-champion & team-mate Robert Cipriani-Detres.
Hanson is also an ambassador of Racing For Kids, a children’s charity which uses its distinctive position in the racing world to bring attention and funding to children’s health institutions. Racing For Kids has raised more than $7.5 million (USD) through donations and fund-raising events.
