The final weekend of the 2024 FEL Motorsports Sports Car Championship Canada, presented by Michelin, was nothing short of thrilling for Peter Hanson and the Sanders Motorsport Team! Under clear skies and amid the roar of excitement from thousands of passionate fans at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Peter Hanson solidified his position in the championship […]
The FEL Motorsports SCCC paddock has returned from the woods in Calabogie! Many had been watching the weather worried about the threat of rain, but not Peter Hanson. If anything, you would catch him doing a rain dance behind the trailer in hope of such and boy did the clouds deliver. It was a fantastic display of wet weather racing throughout the entire weekend, but particularly for the races.
Race one set the pace for the weekend as Peter consistently closed the gap to P2 lap after lap, but the checkered flag dropped before a pass could be made securing Peter a podium P3 position going into race 2. Peter knocked race 2 out of the park with a brilliant display of car control and race craft alike that his young competitors had not anticipated. Entering a drenched corner one side by side, trying not to hydroplane through the near rivers running across the track, Peter secured P2 right off the start. Lap after lap, Peter reeled in P1, but traffic from the quicker classes re-opened the gap. Peter claimed his first P2 position for the season and had the fastest lap of the race amongst his competitors showing the true nature of a champion.
Next up, Peter and the Sanders Motorsport team head to the Streets of Toronto as they take on the infamous Toronto Honda Indy on July 19-21. A fan favourite with upwards of 150,000 people in attendance throughout the paddock.
