Racing For Kids®, the longtime INDYCAR mainstay charity, will add a Canadian footprint this season in partnership with veteran driver Peter Hanson’s Ryspec backed entry in the Emzone Radical Cup Canada Championship. The eight race series’ first race weekend is May 19-21 at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. The schedule also includes participating in the popular Honda Toronto Indy, July 14-16.
Hanson’s nearly four decade racing career began in Karts and included a myriad of car types and series with impressive runs in the prestigious Rolex 24 Hours Of Daytona, 24 Hours Of LeMans and the 12 Hours Of Sebring.
He also runs Hanson International Advanced Driving School in Burlington, Ontario, Canada.
Hanson’s team’s first testing in late April (below) went well during several challenging weather changes. On Victoria Day Weekend was a huge one for the Racing For Kids and Ryspec team. Check out the details below.
FEL Emzone Radical Cup Championship at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park
An incredible time for the Racing For Kids and Ryspec team this past Victoria Day weekend hosting a multi-day racing event at the SOLD OUT Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. Families from all over came down with their tents and trailers to enjoy the racing, a live concert, and even a fireworks show! The park was filled with patrons as far as the eye could see.
Peter was pleasantly overwhelmed with the number of families that came by to see the Racing For Kids Radical and to meet Peter, acquiring themselves an autograph. The autograph sessions were filled with excited and smiling faces and it was an incredible site to see all of the Racing For Kids swag around the
paddock and throughout the park. We can’t wait to make more people smile next race with amazing Racing For Kids merchandise!
The next event takes place at Shannonville Motorsports Park on June 2, 3 and 4th. Looking forward to connecting with more fans, friends and families around the paddock to continue spreading the word about our incredible title partner, Racing For Kids!
Test Weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park
This past weekend was spent in the most Canadian way possible. Driving on track in unprecedented weather conditions! Friday was a warm, sunny day spent testing out the Radical’s true capabilities and ensuring that all aspects of the aerodynamics were in good form. Come Saturday, the wild winds came in and brought the rain. Perfect conditions to test the car, driver and rain tyres!
The track closed early due to dense fog, but not before we managed to get in a full day of great sessions. Sunday brought the cold weather and bursts of hail to finish off the weekend. Overall, the car handled like a dream and Peter managed to put down some incredibly impressive lap times with in depth
overviews of individual lap data at the end of each session.
The next event is in less than two weeks time! Competing in our first race of the season at the BEMC Spring Trophy Races, the battle takes place at the famous Canadian Tire Motorsports Park on May 5, 6, and 7th. Looking forward to debuting the livery with Racing For Kids as our title partner!
