Jack Hawksworth, who pilots car #41 for AJ Foyt racing, visited dozens of young inpatients and outpatients at Akron Children’s Medical Center Thursday, July 28. Akron Children’s has been a consistent stop for Racing For Kids and is one of the best children’s hospitals in the country. Today’s visit rounds out nearly two decades of visits at the hospital. Most of the kids and parents were already race fans, but now they all are.
Racing For Kids’ founder Dr. Bill Pinsky accompanied Jack. He and Jack handed out Racing For Kids and Firestone hats and Firehawk stuffed animals. Representatives from Racing For Kids sponsors Firestone and TranSystems also joined the visit helping to greet the children.
Jack was very impressed by the number of racing fans at the visit. The patients and staff appreciated Jack fitting the visit into his busy schedule before this weekend’s Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio. His new fans from Akron Children’s Medical Center will be cheering him on. The race will be live on CNBC at 2:00 PM EDT on Sunday, July 31st.
