Racing For Kids® launches its 35th Anniversary Season with Exciting INDYCAR Events in St. Petersburg, Florida

by damuzingo

Racing For Kids® gets back on track with two special kick off events, part of the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Pete – the season opening race of the 2024 NTT INDYCAR Series.

First up on Thursday, March 7,  Racing For Kids will bring AJ Foyt Racing’s Santino Ferrucci and Sting Ray Robb to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg for a special visit prior to their competing in the St. Petersburg Grand Prix.  The popular INDYCAR racers will make bedside visits, engaging young patients, talking about racing, signing hero cards, posing for pictures and handing out colorful Racing For Kids hats.

Their 75 minute program will be the 20th visit Racing For Kids has made to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital since INDYCAR began racing on the streets of St. Petersburg in 2003.

The following day March 8, Racing For Kids will team up with St. Petersburg Grand Prix promoter, Green Savoree Racing Promotions, to entertain dozens of young hospital outpatients and their families at a VIP Kids-at-the-Track event. The fun-filled day included tours of the INDYCAR Paddock, the AJ Foyt Racing team transporter and Firestone Racing’s tire compound.  They were also treated to a delicious track side lunch provided by Lundy Catering.

“Green Savoree and its St. Pete Grand Prix staff really helps make this happen each year” said Debby Wright, Racing For Kids’ COO.  “It will be such a great way to kick off our 35th year of helping sick kids get better faster through motorsports.”

Racing For Kids has plans underway for similar events during the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix in June as well as additional kid-oriented events at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.   Other 35th Anniversary events are in the planning stage.
